About The HABITAT/Wayfinder Initiative
Exploring the needs of individual homeowners and the building performance improvement market has been a tremendous learning curve. What was initially conceived of as The HABITAT Initiative is now evolving into Wayfinder to significantly enhance Building Change’s ability to braid different funding sources to achieve sustainable home upgrade goals by creating the means to ultimately incorporate billons of private sector dollars in the upgrade financing process – thereby reducing the reliance on government-sponsored upgrade funding. Building Change’s revolutionary Wayfinder braided funding process will be driven by a blockchain-based interface through which HPXML-compliant home/building performance and operational data (collected via building assessment) is securely and privately accessed and valuated within a new ecosystem designed to support and finance home and building performance upgrades.
The Problem: Waste Not, Want Not!
Highly valuable home performance data is constantly being wasted. There is confusion between government agencies, manufacturers, trades, utilities, and home/building owners regarding how home performance data is managed and valued. The lack of consistent and reliable reporting means homeowners are losing opportunities to monetize the data their homes produce. The value of that data could help finance comprehensive and enduring energy efficiency, health, and safety improvements.
Home and Building Owners
Contact Building Change today to learn how you can participate in this unique initiative. Building Change’s goal in creating the Wayfinder value exchange network is to bring aging homes and buildings into the 21st century, making them more energy efficient and safe to improve occupant wellbeing while reducing energy waste. The money home and building owners save helps revitalize local economies, enabling them to patronize local businesses.
Seniors aging in place on fixed incomes can receive funding to improve the comfort and safety of their homes, saving money with a positive impact on their health and happiness.
Young or single parent families with low to moderate incomes can improve the value and performance of their homes. Vital improvements offer increased health and safety.
Owners of rent-controlled multi-tenant buildings can receive assistance in improving the livability and performance of those buildings. That will have a positive impact on the environment, lower maintenance and utility costs and improve the life quality of the occupants.
Home/building owners can exchange access to performance data for home improvement products and services, and funding opportunities. You decide who can access what data and for how long.
